Plan seriously. But never confuse the plan with the point. When reality breaks the route you expected, what matters is how quickly you recover and find another one.

Toddlers fall sick. Childcare sends them home. Then what is childcare for?
We keep giving parents more leave when childcare breaks down, instead of redesigning the system around one obvious fact: young children fall sick all the time.
